Why +one exists
Plus One is a community-based social platform built to help people connect, communicate and find communities around shared interests — whether that's a running partner, a study group, or the people at your workplace who actually reply.
Most networks optimise for who you already know. Plus One starts from what you care about: a tag, a community, a run, a chai. Follows turn into colleagues, colleagues turn into chats — the feed is a place to meet, not a place to perform.
The interface is "Graphite & Pulp": ink strokes on warm off-white paper, a faint drafting grid, hand-drawn boxes, masking-tape chips, and one highlighter-yellow accent used the way a real marker is — sparingly. Headlines are set in Bricolage Grotesque, body text in Karla, labels in JetBrains Mono. This website wears the exact same tokens as the app.
One codebase, three surfaces: Expo / React Native on iOS, Android and web, Node.js + Socket.IO on the backend, SQLite on a persistent volume with automatic backups every six hours.
Plus One ("+one") launched as an experiment: what if a messenger looked like a sketchbook and worked like a serious product? It now ships realtime chat, a worldwide feed, communities, stories, polls, calls, voice notes and a daily AI greeting — on iOS, Android and the web, for free.
The name is the point: everyone you meet here is a potential +1 — the running partner, the study buddy, the colleague who becomes a friend.
