What Plus One actually is

Plus One is a chatting app first: open it and you're in your chats — 1:1 conversations and group chats that update in real time, with typing indicators, delivery ticks that turn read-blue, replies, reactions, edits, forwards and search. Messages arrive over Socket.IO the moment they're sent. There is no pull-to-refresh hope.

Wrapped around the messenger is the social layer: communities built around what people are actually doing — travel crews, running clubs, nightlife squads, game nights, study groups, chai chats — each with its own group chat, live polls and join policies. Plus a worldwide feed, stories, and place-based discovery on the network tab.

Why it's called “Plus One”

The name is the product. A plus one is the guest you bring. A +1 is the person added to the plan. And one extra person is the difference between a chat and a group chat. Plus One is built for that moment — adding the right people to the right conversation — which is why communities, not follower counts, sit at its centre.

What you can do on Plus One

  • Message anyone in real time — text, voice notes with waveforms, photos with a lightbox
  • Run group chats with polls, pinned decisions, admin controls and disappearing timers (30s / 5m / 1h / 24h)
  • Join or start communities — open, ask-to-join or invite-only — with live member counts
  • Post to a feed, share stories, vote in polls, call over WebRTC
  • Turn any chat into a secret chat with opt-in end-to-end encryption
  • Install it as an app on Android, iOS or desktop — or just use the web

Plus One questions, answered

What is Plus One in simple words?

Plus One is a free app for chatting — with one friend, a whole group, or a community of people who like what you like. Think messenger first, community second.

Is the Plus One app free?

Yes — completely free on web, Android and iOS, with no ads and no in-app purchases. Create a username and password and start chatting.

Do I need a phone number to sign up?

No. Plus One signs you up with a username and password. Your phone number never enters the picture, and your contact list stays on your phone.

Is Plus One affiliated with WhatsApp?

No. Plus One is an original, independent messenger — not affiliated with WhatsApp, Telegram or any other app.

How is Plus One different from other chatting apps?

Most messengers stop at chats; most social apps bury them. Plus One keeps chats at the centre and adds communities around them — a GC for the trip, a poll for the date, a feed for the photos. And it never asks for your phone number.

Where do I get the Plus One app?

Open plusoneco.in/app in any browser (it installs as a PWA), grab the Android APK on the download page, or run it in Expo Go on iOS. One account works everywhere.
