Support & FAQ

The same guide is inside the app at Settings → Help & Guide.
Tap a topic to expand it.

Getting started

Create a One ID with a username and password at plusoneco.in/app (App Store / Play Store builds do the same). Sign in from any device — your chats and settings follow you. Auto-login stays on unless you log out in Settings → Session.

On Android you can also install the APK directly. On iOS, use Expo Go for now — a TestFlight build is planned.

Chats
  • Start one: Chats tab → find +ones → pick a person. Opening their chat doesn't notify them; tap the +one sign in front of their name to send a connect request, or just send a message — it arrives as a request.
  • Requests: first messages from outside your contacts wait in Request Chat (and in Activity). Accept, delete, or block without them entering your main inbox.
  • Ticks: one check = sent, two grey = delivered, two highlighted = read. Typing shows live. Read receipts can be turned off in Settings → Privacy.
  • Reply/react/delete: swipe a message right (or press R on desktop) to reply; long-press for the menu. Deleting a chat clears it only for you.
  • Pin, mute, archive: long-press a chat → actions panel. Recent / Archived / Request views are just filters.
  • Disappearing ink: chat-wide or per-message timers (30s–24h) hard-delete expired content on every device.
Statuses (stories)

Status updates live at the top of the Network feed. Tap your profile circle (the first one, with the +) to post text or a photo; every update disappears after 24 hours. Before sending, choose the audience: Public, My friends, My friends except…, or Only share with… — enforced by the server. Unseen updates have a bold ink ring; replies to a status arrive as a chat message.

GC — group chats

GCs live in their own tab, separate from your 1:1 inbox. Create one, set Open / Ask to join / Invite only, and add people from your contacts. Every GC gets real group chat — messages, voice notes, reactions, themes, and polls. Discover is where you find GCs to join; requests go to the GC's admin.

The Network & communities
  • Post from the pencil button: attach a photo, a song, or a #tag, and choose Public / Friends / Selected.
  • Likes and threaded comments land live. Tap a #tag to filter the feed.
  • Colleagues: add your college, organization, or workplace and send connection requests to people there.
  • Communities: purpose-based groups (Club Night, Study Group, Trip Planning…). Admins approve requests, promote or remove members, or disband.
Calls & voice notes

Calls use WebRTC on the web and on mobile — ring, accept, mute, hang up, and a full call history in the Calls tab. Voice notes are recorded only while you hold the mic; they upload as WebM/M4A and play back with a waveform and duration.

Notifications

Settings → Notifications controls chat messages (with or without preview text), Status updates, Network posts, community activity, and a sound switch. Push requires your permission; on the web, notifications work while the tab is open or closed, and reappear each session. If web notifications stop, check the browser's site permission and re-enable it.

Privacy & safety
  • Last seen: Everyone / My contacts / Nobody — server-enforced.
  • Read receipts: turn off sending (and seeing) blue ticks; group chats always send them.
  • Blocked contacts: Settings → Privacy → Blocked Contacts. A blocked person can't message you, and statuses/posts are hidden both ways.
  • Moderation: report content from the post or profile. See our Terms of Service for the acceptable-use rules.
Account & security
  • Change your password: Settings → Security & Privacy → Change Password.
  • Edit your profile (name, @username, about, phone, affiliations) in Settings → Personal Information.
  • Delete your account: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete One ID — permanent, after password verification. Shared groups, communities, and institutions transfer safely to remaining members.
  • Forgot your password? Use "Forgot password?" on the sign-in screen.
Appearance

Settings → Appearance offers Light (default), Dark, Kinetic Ink, or System — with a live preview of the exact colours and type scale. Light and independent of the OS: this is the historical "paper" palette.

Web app, offline & updates
  • The web build is an installable PWA (Add to home screen). Cached chat history keeps working offline; state re-syncs when the connection returns.
  • Updates install automatically in the background. Settings → App Updates shows the current build and lets you check manually.
  • Media and sockets connect to the realtime backend; on very slow networks the first message may take a few seconds to tick over.
Still stuck?

If a FAQ doesn't cover it:

  • Open the app → Settings → Help & Support for the full in-app guide.
  • File an issue at github.com/sakshamfit/BROSKIE/issues — describe what you did, what you expected, and what you saw instead.
  • For data requests (export or deletion), see Privacy Policy.
